Born in Aachen, Germany in 1886, Mies Van der Rohe along Le Corbusier, is widely known as a pioneer of Modern Architecture. He influenced the 20th Century Architecture with Simplicity and Clarity in his style, using modern materials. Famous for his dictum 'Less is More", he represents architure with a minimal framework as you can observe in his Pavilion in Barcelona, using big open spaces. He called his buildings "skin and Bones Architecture. He ended his carrier in USA, where he died in Chicago in 1969 leaving the world and Barcelona an interesting architectural heritage.
