Designed by Antoni Gaudi architect to be a residencial parc and built between 1900 and 1914, Park Guell is also part of the Unesco World Heritage since 1994. Park Guell is huge city garden located in the upper part of Barcelona on the hill of the Carmel in Gracia. Inspired by the English Garden City Movement, the Park was part originally of unsuccessful commercial project ordered by Eusebio Guell, a rich Catalan business man of the early 20th century. The park Guell characterizes well the Organic architectural stage of Gaudi during the first decade of 20th century. Inspired by geometric shape of the nature, Gaudi will put into practice new structural solutions after the artist deeply analyzed Reglada geometry. You can observe the style with the numerous columns you will discover during your walk as well as the huge terrace surrounded by Gaudi’s benches, “the hundred columns room”, or the sea snake. The house of Gaudi is located in the park and exhibit Gaudi’s design furnitures. The park Guell is one of the numerous Gaudi’s heritage to Barcelona, you can also visit Casa Battlo, Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila (La Pedrera) or Colonia Guell.
