Josep Puig i Cadafalch, well know architect left his print on Paseo de gracia with the Casa Amatller. Part of la “Mazana de la discordia” this modernism building is located right by Casa Batllo. Originally built for the chocolatier Antoni Amatller, the house was remodeled between 1898 and 1900. We can observe Cadafalch’s inspiration from the Flemish style architecture mixed with neo gothic style. Many artists collaborated with the architect to give the building its impressive facade: St Georges statue from the door sculpted by Eusebi Arnau, the balcony forged by Manuel Ballarin, the ceramic of the roof or also the gothic style windows realized by well known artists of the epoque. Definitely Casa Amatller is part of the great architectural patrimony of Barcelona. Today, it is a private building of offices and also hosts the Hispanic Art foundation but you can visit the souvenir shop of the ground floor
