The Gran Teatro del Liceo of Barcelona is since 1847 one of the world's finest and biggest stage and acoustic settings for opera. Located on the Ramblas downtown, El Liceo has been the scene of the most prestigious artists and the proud of Catalan bourguesy and aristocracy. After the building burn in 1994, a faithful rebuilding of the 1861 auditorium took place with some improvements and 2,292 seats, it became one of the biggest opera houses in Europe.
